I can agree it's difficult to get the fullness of the taste from Amedei's bars to the point of getting the price's worth. It's not something I would nosh on just like that.. okay, it actually is, I'm doing this right at this moment. :) But it's best at the end of a small "tasting", or progression, to discover the many nuances. It's not something I'd bring for a cottage getaway; rather, I'd more recommend Michel Cluizel or some of Valrhona's offerings. Some wines, for example, are very carefully balanced and need a full meal and ambiance to properly appreciate them, and wouldn't quite work sipping in a hammock next to a lake. :)
One exception: Amedei's Toscano Red is sex on a plate at any point, anywhere, anytime. It's also only available a tiny time each year and I always miss it...
