What ilanikhan said; I'll add that like many kinds of dance, it uses dancers' ability to control their bodies' parts independently and together as they choose. Bellydancing, for example, does some of this too. Breaking (the term used within the art, rather than "breakdancing") is certainly related, but is not the same thing.
