It seems the Conservatives may soon table a Canadian version of the DMCA: see this article by Globe and Mail columnist Jack Kapica. This article by Michael Geist has some good suggestions on what to do about it, the foremost ones being to write letters a lot... ladies and gentlemen, start your faxes!

*sigh* The Cons are playing the minority government game, doing little pissant shit that is damaging, but not noteworthy enough to build an election on. The Grits need to get their stuff together and stop pussyfooting around, I think. Dion's a bright guy, but I was expecting a move this fall; I think he's being overmanaged by timid advisors. If they don't move this spring, I suspect that he'll never be PM, because people will have cemented an image of him as a weak, indecisive leader in their minds.

Aye, though if they try to pull the DCMA bull as a confidence vote the government will fall. It's the only safe item for the Liberals to vote against.

But will anyone besides the NDP join them?

The Bloc has never shown any support for either the conservative government nor copyright matters.
