3 things meme

Three things I've done that I doubt anyone on my friends list has:

1: Been paid to operate a 1950's-era teletype;
2: Served at an episcopal ordination (i.e., the ceremony in which a person is made a bishop); and
3: Successfully taken off and landed a full-motion aircraft simulator. [livejournal.com profile] xiphia is a pilot... I didn't know that!
3a: Taken the ferry from Helsinki to Tallinn and back.

As per standard, if you've done any of these, reply and I'll come up with a different one.

It wasn't visa troubles it was the fact that it was a spur of the moment "oh look, $200 to fly to Denmark and back [1]" trip and it was literally too last minute for me to have time to get the visa. I was vaguely bitter at the time that Canadians required one when Americans and Brits didn't, but that has since changed I think.

[1] in $US. Which at the time meant $420 CDN once the taxes and surcharges kicked in. [2]
[2] And the trip was from NYC but I burned my airmiles getting to NYC[3]
[3] So all told I spent $600 on airfare to get from OTtawa to NYC, from NYC to Iceland for 3 days and then to Denmark, and then returned from Stockholm via iceland to NYC and came back to Canada the next day. It was fun. It was almost completely unplanned except for the part where I bought the airline ticket and bought a Scandinavian railpass in advance.

That sounds like a pretty cool idea, though... impromptu travel!
