This caught my ear

Imogen Heap--Hide and Seek.

Solo voice and harmonizer... much, much sparser than what I usually listen to!

I first encountered it as Tiësto's In Search of Sunrise Remix, which is very nice as a trance remix, but the original is gripping. It came up on soma.fm's Lush internet radio station.

According to the Wikipedia article, it's been used fairly often on T.V., but I wouldn't know, not owning one!

Yeah, I am a fan of Imogen Heap. I think I might have actually mentioned her to you over a year ago. It's the only time that she used that technique. Love the remix though, never knew that Tiesto remixed her work. Another fav from Tiesto was the Mad World remix.

Imogen Heap: I don't recall you mentioning her, but my memory isn't good for that kind of thing. I think it's a technique that would get old if overused, but it worked well there.

Mad World: I don't think I know the remix, but I very much like the original Tears for Fears version!

I have no idea if you know of them or not, but you may like Coil as well.

Apparently she actually does the mixing live in concert...or at least I've seen a video where she did...kind of a neat idea ;)

I'm not usually an industrial music guy, but if you give clicky-linky, I'll take a listen!

I've seen a harmonizer used live before; it lends itself to that kind of thing. I've also seen someone build up a song using loops and samples recorded on the fly, live... that was pretty neat!

Broccoli by Coil

Interesting. It's not a mood that often works for me, but it's well done. It feels bleak, I guess, and that's not where I'm at most of the time.
