My barber has moved on to another line of work.

Can any of you recommend a good barber in Ottawa who understands beards and doesn't want to remake the world into metrosexuals?

Hmmm, good point... I don't, however, happen to know one, so if there's a specific one you could point out, that would be helpful. (I mean, I could just call barbershops until I get the right response to "As-salamu Alaykum!", but... then again, maybe not.)

Foms knows someone . . . I'll try to remember to ask him.

There's a place on the south side of Cooper, a couple of doors east of Bank that was quite good. I haven't been there in several years, though, so I'd check a bit carefully. The shop in 99 Bank (the Clarica Building) looks as though it might be but I've never tried them.

Eh? I don't understand that metrosexuals comment. What's wrong with that?

For those who like it, it's fine; it's not really the look I'm going for, though.

I'm just looking for one that can follow my instructions.

Martin seems to really like his. She's in Gatineau and French, if you can deal with that. I'm surprised he hasn't posted a reply to this- maybe ask him next time you see him.
Coupe de Ville on Kent Street has two stylists. The woman's name is Carole and I don't like her much, but the man seems to do an excellent job.
Hope that helps. Granted, this post was from two weeks ago so you'll probably have found someone by now. :)

I haven't looked into the places [livejournal.com profile] foms mentioned above yet, so I'll take a current recommendation first, and move on if it doesn't suit.

I can deal with Gatineau and French, so I'll pester [livejournal.com profile] mnv_iii for the info! Thanks for the lead!

Glad I can be of help. :)

Having struggled (well, still struggling, really) to find a new and good hairstylist, I sympathize with your plight and wish you the best. I hope that one of these leads will work out.

Good luck!

Thanks. I will need it- I've tried three stylists here and none have been what I'm looking for. I'm hoping for better luck in London.
If not, I guess I'll just rely on my stylist in Manitoba... the once I year I visit home. :\

Yep. From Brandon (45,000 pop., 2hrs southwest of Winterpeg) originally, came here for school. :)

I started off in journalism. Carleton's j-school is the most prestigious and reputable in the country (tied with Ryerson) and I try to aim big in my schooling.
Hated j-school with a passion but liked the city/people enough to stick around. Glad I did. :)

Hated j-school with a passion

I've heard that from others.

We're glad you did too!
