Rockets!

I concocted a cocktail last night which tastes remarkably like Rockets candy; this was unexpected, but not a bad thing. Here's the recipe...

5 parts Beefeater 24 gin
4 parts Southern Comfort
1 part Galliano
several drops DSB Bitters

Shake with ice and strain into chilled cocktail glass.

Beefeater 24 is a more orange-y gin than most, which probably matters.

I'm still learning how to work with gin, because my folks weren't fond of it. I find that even good gins are significantly cheaper than equivalent scotches, I guess because gin isn't as trendy at the moment. Single malts are, it seems to me, quite inflated.

I agree that Scotch prices are inflated. But, I also expect there's going to be a core price-difference between a Scotch and a gin, and that's the cost of making the thing then storing it for 8+ years before selling it. Gin doesn't involve the aging process -- basically ferment, distill, infuse.
