I suppose it depends on whether the modem is expecting things like a specific mac address from your PC, whether your modem assigns the IP and DNS info dynamically or whether I would have to first copy it from your machine.
It's not a big deal if I have to duck out quickly. In fact as my manager observed, it probably isn't a big deal if I ignore it. I h ave one system I need to shut off cleanly remotely before the hosts power it off, but 99 times out of 100 if I just let them crash the system it should still come up fine.
IP is dynamic. I use set nameservers but I'm pretty sure our ISP will supply dynamic ones. The only information you should need is username and password (this is PPPOE), which I can provide.
