Waterboarding: torture or not?

Well, someone decided to try it on himself to get an answer.

His description of the experience is quite convincing.

After reading that, my heart was pounding in my chest hard enough to make my chest move my shirt. I'm thinking the wet rag technique is not dissimilar to a particularly bad case of sleep apnea (which, as [livejournal.com profile] wulfmadchen can attest, throws me into a complete state of panic upon waking).

PS - It saddens (but doesn't completely surprise) me that the only Republican who has made a definite statement against all forms of torture is John McCain.

And look at what it did to McCain's credibility.

Disliking torture is enough to make The Base hate you, because disliking torture implies that what The Base have been cheering for for all these years was bad, and that's the same as calling them ignorant and stupid.

Of course, they *are* ignorant and stupid. But they really, really hate having it pointed out.

I knew already that waterboarding was torture, and it's odious that some people in the USA insist that it is not.

Indeed.

Ah, there you are... how come the anonymous comments above?

Work filters are weird. Can view and post to LJ, but the script blockers don't allow me to login.
