I'm looking for social time on Tuesdays: my regular RPG is on hiatus this month, and when it resumes, it will be on alternating weeks.

So, if you're available and inclined to get together tonight (and/or upcoming Tuesday evenings), reply here or fire me an e-mail. I finish work around 5:30, and then take the bus from the business parks in Kanata North. I'm up for dinner, pool, movie, gaming, general hanging out, and in fact most things.

I'm going to be climbing at Coyote this evening, starting around 7pm if you'd like to join me.

From: [identity profile] dagibbs.livejournal.com

Hm... or I could pick you up at/near work, since I'm in Kanata south, and we could do dinner, then go climbing.

From: [identity profile] ironphoenix.livejournal.com

Hmmm... intriguing, although I generally prefer dinner after the climbing to before it. Exceptions can be made, though; what time ranges work for you, and where would work for dinner?

From: [identity profile] dagibbs.livejournal.com

QNX is installing a generator this evening, and I think they're shutting down power at 5:30pm, which is around your finished work time, too, from the sound of it. I could easily head out a touch earlier to grab you from work.

I like to have some food before climbing, otherwise I tend to run out of energy to do any climbing. Usually I grab a sub from Subway on the way there. (I also often eat after, but that's by raiding the fridge when I get home.) I don't want too heavy a meal beforehand, though. Otherwise, Sukhothai (in Bells Corners) would be an idea. I don't know if they're fast enough. (I'm also meeting someone from work for climbing, our official meet up time is 7pm, with the expectation that will mean he's there by about 7:30pm. So there is some flexibility if we go a bit long.) I think west end is best, so that more traffic clears out before we head across the city.

that restaurant has moved and added more tables - so it's crowded.

That's the hearsay I received at least. =)

From: [identity profile] dagibbs.livejournal.com

We'd be early for dinner, so maybe not too crowded, and on a Tuesday.

I didn't know it had moved... if we don't go, I'll have to look on my next trip through BC.

From: [identity profile] pezchica.livejournal.com

Yes, it moved into the old Kentucky Fried Chicken. Jim and I tried to just show up and eat (on a Friday or a Saturday night at 8) and they looked at us strangely not having reservations and then sat us somewhere where I had elbows within 2 inches of me (from other tables) on both sides.

We left.

From: [identity profile] ironphoenix.livejournal.com

Left as in, will call ahead next time, or as in, will not be going there next time?

From: [identity profile] pezchica.livejournal.com

My life is so last minute in terms of that sort of thing that making reservations is something I find very difficult. I just don't KNOW that I'm going to go out very far in advance.

That said, there were tables that had more space (and privacy), and I would certainly eat there again if I knew no one's elbow was going to be in my side. The food is yummy.

OK, let's do it that way. There's a Quizno's not far from where I work; how does that sound?

I'll need to stop in for a few minutes at home to get suitable clothes, gear etc.; is that ok?

From: [identity profile] dagibbs.livejournal.com

Quizno's sounds good. Now, I just need to know either where you work, or where the Quizno's is, in case meeting there would be easier.

Yes, I assumed that stopping by your place for suitable clothes, etc, would be required. I've got climbing gear with me, cause I knew I would be heading out climbing -- I didn't expect you'd have been that psychic.

From: [identity profile] ironphoenix.livejournal.com

Where I work is easier, both logistically and navigationally; e-mail coming your way!

Actually, I was that psychic; I just didn't want to freak you out.

From: [identity profile] dagibbs.livejournal.com

If you'd been that psychic, you'd have sent me the email this morning. :)

I am cell-enabled, so can call on arrival if that helps.

As if I had time to do much this morning... this two projects thing is rough, because of the task-paging overhead.

Not free tonight, but in general I'm free on alternate Tuesdays and sometimes movies or gaming would be fun.

I haven't been to a movie since Christmas. I blame the theatre offerings, but actually I haven't looked very hard to see if anything grabs my attention. I vaguely remember seeing trailers for stuff I wanted to see when I was seeing Christmas movies but other than Dark Knight nothing off the top of my head.

From: [identity profile] ironphoenix.livejournal.com

Yeah, the theatre offerings have had a chronic case of suckitis, generally.

Keep me posted for next week!

On looking at the listings I see that there are in fact several movies I want to see (e.g. Juno, There Will be Blood, The Kite Runner, Spiderwick Chronicles,) - it's just that most of them are inspiring me to add them to my Zip list rather than trying to drag people to the theatre.

On the other hand next Monday Blade Runner Final Cut is playing the the Mayfair, so I think I will have to dodge the St Patrick's Day partying crowd and go.

Next Tuesday sounds good for gaming (unless you are interested in seeing any of the above movies - my threshold for theatre vs. zip list is much more relaxed for Tuesday movies)

From: [identity profile] ironphoenix.livejournal.com

The Kite Runner doesn't appeal, but There Will Be Blood looks particularly interesting; the other two, I can go with if you have a strong preference. What's your availability for this evening?
beable: (my book)

From: [personal profile] beable

My current availability is "back at work on the first day after spending most of yesterday in bed sick" and feeling somewhat tired out despite it being not yet lunch. I am most likely going to crash at home tonight.

Sorry.

From: [identity profile] ilanikhan.livejournal.com

I am not free tonight - though it looks like you've made your plans for tonight anyway...but in general I'm up for any of the things you've listed.

From: [identity profile] ironphoenix.livejournal.com

Not this week, but we'll get you soon, don't worry...

Bowling is something I suck at, but find fun.

From: [identity profile] ironphoenix.livejournal.com

Sure, but after supper would likely be better. A friend I haven't seen for a long while and I are catching up over dinner, but afterwards, pool, bowling, movie or other would be a fine thing; he might be induced to join in, too! Any preferences or suggestions?
beable: (Default)

From: [personal profile] beable

I'm not big on pool. I suck at bowling but enjoy it thoroughly - though that would be more fun if you can entice your friend to join. Movies look possible - there will be blood is no longer playing, but there's others I'd happily go see. Gaming always sounds like fun.

What part of the city is dinner happening in?

From: [identity profile] ironphoenix.livejournal.com

Dinner is downtown (market); I plan to travel by bus, but frend haz kar.

Bowling: sounds workable to me.

Gaming: not can has at my place that night, so unless a host volunteers, not gonna happen.

Movies: Proposals welcome; I'm not up on what's playing.

How about you and friend meet me at my house?

We can either game, watch a movie (yes, I have some. including four as yet unwatched from Zip), go to a movie, or go bowling. And that way activity can be decided based on actual time. Though I would appreciate an attempt at an approx time (7:30?)

I live downtown. I'll e-mail you my address and phone number.

From: [identity profile] ironphoenix.livejournal.com

E-mail received. Your place, it sounds like a good starting point indeed.

I will see about doing dinner a bit earlier than originally planned (6:30), since that would have us arriving at your place closer to 8:30 than 7:30 (one does not rush through the sushi!); I will also ask whether he's inclined to join us.
beable: (Default)

From: [personal profile] beable

8:30 is fine, I was just throwing out a time as a suggestion.

Earlier is fine too - I'll be home anyways. Possibly doing something sensible like taxes.

Just call when you are leaving the restaurant so that I have a good ETA (and can turn off the DSL - it fights with the intercom at the moment)

From: [identity profile] ironphoenix.livejournal.com

Well, but I'd like to get to bed not too late: was gaming last night at [livejournal.com profile] gabriel_le and [livejournal.com profile] dagibbs' place and got home pretty late.

Calling ahead when we're heading out: works for me, we'll do that.
