Life? Is awesome.

The past weeks have been extraordinarily intense, and mostly in a good way. Work is busy, of course, but it's much bigger, and better, than that.

[livejournal.com profile] soul_diaspora and I have been exploring new sides of ourselves and our relationship, and that's been terrific. She's leaping out in several directions at once, including LJ-land (although I think most of her stuff is still flocked). I've had more new experiences, spiritual and otherwise, in the past few months than in any similar period over the preceding 5 years.

I'm realizing now that since terminating the PhD, I am showing a lot less signs of stress, and that's coming out in a very intense social life. To you folks I've been spending time with over the past few weeks, thank you! It's been amazing, and shows promise of keeping on in that vein. (I'm running out of synonyms for "great" here...)

(Also, to you folks I haven't been spending that time with: poke me if you want me to spend time with you; I certainly don't mean to leave anyone out. I've simply been following somewhat of a path of least resistance, and spending time with the people who make it plain that they want to spend time with me, and participate in creating opportunities to do so.)

Yes, I know I'm not being long on specifics here; I may put up a flocked/filtered post with more details, though. (The fact that that's the case may give the curious some clues, but if you don't already know, you'll likely have to ask!) One thing I'm actively working on is being more open and sharing more personal things about myself, so that would be a part of it. It's something I've been a bit reluctant about until now, and a number of events and people lately have synchronistically led me towards breaking out of that habit. I think it's a coping strategy that has outlived its usefulness, since I don't have to be quite as terrified of hurting the people around me with my wants and needs as I once did (or thought I did, at any rate).

Again, to all of you who've been close to me and to [livejournal.com profile] soul_diaspora over the recent little while, thank you again, very much. (If you have to wonder to yourself whether you're included in that group, then you probably are. If you are [livejournal.com profile] soul_diaspora, then you're at the heart of that group!) It's not often that I've felt this happy and at ease, and a lot of it is due to you.

Consider M. and I as officially being in the category of people who would like to spend more time with you -- although I don't think we're likely to be able to arrange anything before Canada Day week-end, and I'm looking forward to seeing you then... But we'll poke you more, going forward.

You two are most definitely on the list of People We Don't See Nearly Enough Of.

July is complicated, but we should really at least do supper sometime in the latter half of it (i.e. after we get back from Usareich)!

Ah, "going forward"... I can tell you're working in an office too. Going forward, as opposed to what? Time travel?

Thank you for the vote of confidence; what kind of hanging out do you like doing?

I can haz theories bwahahahahaha *cackles*

Ok actually since prying into other people's lives is not actually one of my hobbies (unless they initiate the discussion) than I'll leave the theories cackling at that, and address the more important point of

hanging out! is good! especially if it includes gaming!

But I am often a socializer of least resistance too, so other than the epic fails con_girl and I have been making to see Indiana Jones, I have not particularly been organizing much. (Speaking of which we have had two failed attempts to see it the past two Tuesdays. I believe we testing the third time pays for all theory this Tuesday if you are interested)

I saw it, and found it fun, but not All That And A Bag Of Crisps; also, perhaps more definitively, I has RPG on Tuesday evening this week.

But yes, hanging out is good... I haven't been organizing games lately because of how busy everything else has been, and July is shaping up to be much the same: I'm away for half of it, and there are already activities being planned for the other two weekends. Perhaps I can squeak something in, though.

What other kinds of hanging out work for you?

I am a fan of the standards of movies, gaming, mayhem. I actually like bowling though only when it involves disco or glow in the dark and I can enable my inner child and play the fool (I suck at bowling, so I have fun trying to find creative ways of bowling such as two-handed backwards and the like).

Yes, busy-ness is a big factor. I usually have RPG on Sunday all day (afternoon and evening) and it seems like most weeks other time gets booked up quickly. This weekend Gabriel_le is having her broadway night, next weekend I am out of town. July is too far away to think about, etc. Somewhere in there I want to go to Bluesfest.

Sucking at bowling is fine; that's how we know you aren't a redneck.

My July is already starting to look pretty busy, with something slated for pretty much every weekend already, and me being gone the first 2 weeks. There will hopefully be time to slip something in though, since every second Tuesday is open, and I'm thinking of doing the same with Wednesdays.

I'm so glad to hear that you're happy :)

I look forward to hearing details...I think I want to reserve an evening for your to talk while I stay mute.

*bad thoughts ran through head*

*snicker*

I'm glad you're happy too ironphoenix

I suspect that we are mindmelding bad thoughts... *also snicker*

*huge hug*

I'm not sure that would work... I like to have conversation to springboard from. It could be an interesting exercise, though.

I've been greatly enjoying getting to know both you and [livejournal.com profile] soul_diaspora. Consider yourself(ves) poked. :)

From: [identity profile] ironphoenix.livejournal.com

The feeling is quite mutual; you're a very interesting person, and I like what I've seen thus far. You also come well recommended!

*is getting sore ribs from the poking*

haha Well I was certainly thinking it, but I decided the comment could potentially be taken in an unkind way rather than the humourous/friendly way in which I meant it, so I deleted it. Tricksy emailed comment people! :p

From: [identity profile] ironphoenix.livejournal.com

Oh, I had no trouble taking it as intended... but maybe you're going to find trouble of a different kind!

And tricksy is good, right?

I am glad to hear that you are happy. You were carrying around baggage for too long, and as someone who did the same for a year (although it was easier, having mostly written my thesis by the time I got full-time contract work) it is nearly impossible to do both. You chose the best path, in my opinion :)

For obvious reasons I won't be able to hang out with you this year, but with any luck I will run into you on the bus some morning and we can catch up...

*grin* Thanks!

Yes, or perhaps even *gasp* dinner or something!

Glad that things are going so very well for you, I am quite happy for you. I would also be quite interested in socialization, once I am back in the same province as yourself.

From: [identity profile] ironphoenix.livejournal.com

Thanks! Socializing would be very good... when do you get back?

I will be in as of monday morning and generally have nothing on my plate except for a possible friday night game.

I was hoping you'd be back in time for this evening, but 'twas not to be. The week is looking pretty booked at this point, and then I'm off to the US for a couple of weeks. It looks like it's going to be e-mail and LJ for a while yet, sadly!

Wow! Happiness! For you!

I'm blessed to know you, even if only through the intarwebs.
